Acceptable Use
Last updated: 5 April 2026
1. Purpose
Easy HNS is a public DNS resolver service intended for lawful, reasonable use.
This page explains the standards we expect from users and how to report abuse or security concerns.
The HNS DoH global pool is operated by the separate HNS DoH project, not by Easy HNS. Easy HNS terms, operational responsibility, support scope, and service commitments apply only to Easy HNS-operated services and do not extend to that external global pool.
2. Prohibited use
You must not use Easy HNS:
- for unlawful purposes;
- to support phishing, malware, botnets, spam, fraud, or other harmful activity;
- to flood, attack, scan, or degrade the resolver service;
- to attempt to bypass rate limits, blocks, or service protections;
- in a way that creates material operational, legal, or security risk for us or others.
3. Service protection measures
To protect Easy HNS, we may use technical and operational controls including rate limiting, filtering, temporary blocking, request restriction, and service-level defensive measures.
We may investigate suspected misuse where reasonably necessary.
Support contributions do not buy a right to abusive, excessive, or unrestricted use of the service.
4. Abuse reports
If you need to report abuse, misuse, security concerns, or legal issues relating to Easy HNS, please contact:
Please include enough detail for us to understand the issue, such as:
- affected domain or hostname;
- time and date;
- protocol used;
- relevant screenshots, logs, or sample requests;
- why you believe the activity is abusive or unlawful.
5. Responses to reports
We may review reports and take action where reasonably necessary, including:
- temporary or permanent blocking;
- service adjustments;
- escalation to providers or advisers;
- compliance with lawful requests from competent authorities.
We do not guarantee any particular response time or outcome.
6. Good-faith reporting
Please report issues in good faith and with as much accuracy as possible. False, malicious, or abusive reports may themselves be treated as misuse.
